The mission of ACCESS is to provide educational and supportive services to middle and high school students to prepare them for college and their chosen career path.
The purpose of ACCESS (Achieving College and Career Enrichment Skills for Success) is to provide educational and supportive services to K-12 students in order to prepare them for college and to pursue a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and our students are minority, often low income, or will be a first generation college student. Our objective is to give students and parents support, provide resources, opportunities, programs and activities related to STEM careers that will motivate and encourage our students to pursue a STEM related degree program. We have been in existence since 2005 and comprised of parents, college student volunteers, informal educators, pre-service teachers, and business and community leaders who are passionate about preparing our students for 21st century careers and opportunities in hopes that they will become part of the highly skilled workforce. We strongly believe in partnerships and actively collaborate with other organizations in which we share similar goals and objectives for today’s students.
Our expertise is creating, planning, and implementing new and innovative academic enrichment Out-of-School programs and activities which are well organized and safe for all of our students. We have serviced hundreds of students by providing weekly tutoring in math and science, matching mentors for our students, offering afterschool, Saturday, and Summer STEM and STEAM programs and activities, and designing and facilitating college and career preparation and professional and personal development workshops. In addition, we provide opportunities for our students to compete in local and national math and engineering competitions and make visits to science museums, industries, and colleges and universities
